I'm starting to get a little bit nervous now. Tonight at 17.39 I'm coming out of the broom-closet. On regional television. Its an one hour documentary about me and some other witches. In this documentary we talk about witchcraft and wicca (which is NOT the same thing) and they filmed a ritual.
My close friends and family know I'm a witch. But where I live (the east of the Netherlands) people are very catholic. And I live in a very small village right now. Everybody knows everybody. And they all watch regional television. Well, after tonight they will know ;-)
Why did I do this again?
Oh yes, I think it's important to let people see that we're NOT
1. worship satan (that's really a christian concept)
2. sacrifice baby's
3. evil
4. scary (well, maybe I am a bit scary sometimes but I'm quite good at hiding that)
This journalist (who I know personal) wanted to give good information about wicca, based on facts to the public. And that's something I feel strongly about. So I decided (in spite of my nerves) to help him.
Hmmm, after tonight we'll know if the stake is something of the past, won't we ;-) I'm quite glad it is raining cat's and dogs today......

I don't know anything about how wicca is viewed in your part of the world. Here the practicing wiccans I know fall into two groups; those who are serious about it and those who picked it up off the internet. The second group can become the first group but usually doesn't. There isn't much stigma even though it isn't really understood by most people. (I don't really know much about it either.)

Over here it's pretty much the same. The second group we tend to call 'fluffie bunnies'. I'm quite serious about it, and know a lot of serious wiccans in the Netherlands.

That's pretty much the same too. But I dó know about two witches who received deaththreads from some fanatic christians. And one of those threads was really serious.
There is a fanatic 'christian' national televisionchannel (we dón't have as much channels as in the states...about 20) who has made it it's duty to warn people about wicca and witchcraft *rolls eyes*
After each broadcast my mothers asks: Are you súre it isn't a dangerous thing? *sighs*
That is why I decided to give some real information on tv.
I'm not expecting real problems, though. Most people already think I'm strange. After tonight they know why....LOL
